Client: Bond Offshore Helicopters

Major Assignment Summary

Prosource.IT has been involved in setting up and running the IT responsibilities for Bond Offshore Helicopters ever since their return to the North Sea in 2004. We were called in to provide local IT support and to help setup the back office solution to provide 99.9% uptime. This was achieved using a 2 node cluster and fibre connected SAN.

During our time supporting Bond, they have expanded from the initial small staff level with one base in Aberdeen to ~200 users who are spread over 4 bases; a Search and Rescue Hangar in Sumburgh, the Miller platform offshore and a Hangar and Head Office in Aberdeen. We were instrumental in getting the infrastructure of these locations setup, along with all comms links and site to site VPN’s. We were also involved in setting up and migrating all user mailboxes from the sister companies email system to a new Exchange system in Aberdeen, giving Bond far greater control.

Tasked with moving the Head Office into a new building and connecting it to the main Hangar, an LES100 line allowed us to consolidate server roles and use VoIP from the Hangar phone system, reducing the costs of inter-office calls between the three land offices.

A web forum has also been setup for the pilots and engineers to communicate with each other, previously an issue due to the shift nature of their work.

Prosource.it has set Bond up with an IT system which provides full disaster recovery, all data is replicated between sites and in the event of losing an entire base, from an IT perspective, Bond will be able to continue working seamlessly.
