In the summer of 2012, prosource added Aberdeen middle distance athlete, Myles Edwards to their sponsorship portfolio designed to support British sport.
Myles is Aberdeen's second fastest 800 metre runner of all-time with a personal best of 1 minute 50.49 seconds. He lives and trains between his home town of Aberdeen and his adopted home at the heart of the distance running world in Iten, Kenya - which sits at 8000 feet above sea level.
Up until 2012 Myles' career had been hugely disrupted due to injury but spells of training in Kenya have taught him that anything is possible with hard work and injury free training. Training alongside international athletes Dan Mulhare and Jake Robertson, as well as some of the best Kenyan athletes has shown him the importance of leaving no stone unturned in pursuit of his goals. Since 2012 Myles has produced personal best times over 400, 800, 1500 metres, breaking Aberdeen records in the process and also scooping silver and bronze medals at National Championships.
Many of Myles' qualities as an athlete reflect those of ours as a company. Striving for excellence, never taking short cuts, doing the right thing and being disciplined and hard working towards our goals are all areas of common ground that we share. prosource are keen to support local talent and are delighted to assist Myles as he works hard towards his ambition of representing Scotland at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. We have a number of running enthusiasts within the company, so there is a definite affinity there. We understand how hard a 50 minute 10K is, so we definitely appreciate the effort and dedication required to reach Commonwealth performance levels.
We look forward to a long and successful winning partnership.
